High class design, low maintanance

I was playing here 3 times in the last 4 days. The design is as GARY PLAYER makes it, I would like THRACCIAN CLIFFS a little bit more, but as a desert golf course this is more spectacular. Hole no. 5 is called PEBBLE BEACH and is just a little bit difficult to play in wind of 30 km/h and tournament conditions.
There is another PAR 3 very interesting... hole no. 15, with a deep ravine and sea behind the green. Both of these holes have drop area zone.
Waiste area is huge, all over the course but playable. Therefore hole no. 13, called DILEMA-DILEMA is not so difficult, even you are not on fairways (is a hole with 2 fairways) .
The distance is around 6.4 km from the yellow tees , C.R. is 72,2 and S.I. is 135.

A dream of space, a masterpiece of space maintenance

Was that an experience today? What a great place and in Africa in the desert. Perfect fairways, beautiful but playable rough, a condition that the other two courses in Hurghada do not have to offer and the whole thing is characterized by the incredible views of the sea and mountains. Kudos to the architect and the team for making the course such a great experience for every golfer. Long journeys are the order of the day, a challenge for the athlete who runs and doesn't drive. You can enjoy and absorb the space better as you go. The current construction sites around the square limit the enjoyment somewhat and we can only hope that not everything will be built up after completion and that you can still enjoy the beautiful views. One thing is certain: there will be a lot of concrete around the place, which is a shame. But we will still come back. The game is an experience.

Truly fantastic links course on the strip between the Red Sea and the desert. Lush green fairways, Bermuda grass around greens and the greens fast as glass. We played in very strong wind yet flight mates told me it could be much stronger atomic type of wind. True test of putting with many fake beaks towards the sea on the greens. Signature holes are 5,6 and 15 all at the sea shore with azure waves hitting the shore. 5 is Pebble Beach like short par three into the sea. Impressive conditions on the fairways given the hard climate and scare rains here. You could be fairly relaxed on the tee as fairways are spacious but than approach shots and short game get tested and once you on the green you need to superb focus to avoid three putts.
Reception serves top notch quality complimentary coffee. Try iced salt carmel!

Het paradijs is maakbaar... Dat hebben we nu weer opnieuw gezien hier in Soma Bay. Prachtige Gary Player baan. Uitstekend onderhoud, geweldige greens. In de loop der jaren wel 30 keer gespeeld, maar verveelt nooit. Ook prima ontvangst en zeer efficiente afhandeling aan de receptie en door de caddymasters buiten bij de buggies en de starter op de 1e tee. In een woord: zo hoort het. Dat altijd de zon schijnt is een bonus. Nog meer genieten. De wind wordt door sommigen als vervelend ervaren, maar hé, je golft langs de Rode Zee. Daar hoort de uitdagende wind bij. Zoals gezegd, al vaker geweest en we komen er zeker weer terug.

Un magnifique parcours magnifiquement entretenu. 6300 m des back tees qui deviennent beaucoup plus lorsque le vent souffle (300 jours par an parait il). Les greens sont très défendus avec de nombreuses pentes! Un petit bémol: ils sont très durs et peu réceptifs ce qui rend les coups parfois impossibles. Mais quel beau parcours!

Der Cascades Platz in Soma Bay liegt direkt am Roten Meer

Der Cascades Platz in Soma Bay liegt direkt am Roten Meer. Vier Bahnen befinden sich direkt an der Küste und sind nicht überraschend auch die beeindruckendsten. Der ganze Platz ist aber gut designed mit interessanten Features, wie Centerline Bunkers, einem Double Plateau Green und ein Split Fairway. Abseits der Fairways gibt es einen schmalen Streifen Semirough, danach folgt direkt die Wastearea. In dieser kann man aber meist den Ball finden und gut weiterspielen. Meist herrscht eine stramme Briese auf dem Platz und man sollte den Ball flach halten können. Echtes Links-Feeling kommt leider nicht auf da das Kikuyu-Gras den Ball förmlich frisst und ein Groundgame nur eingeschränkt möglich ist. Trotzdem macht der Platz viel Spaß!

From the moment we arrived the staff were so pleasant and were greeted with two free coffee vouchers. The course was in perfect condition and the views are outstanding especially on the 5th and 6th holes! After the round the staff were so helpful in getting us a taxi back to our resort as we are staying elsewhere. Definitely recommend!

Beautiful golf days in December 2022

We were in Somabay for the first time and play 5x on the course. It wasn't easy because of the wind (up to 50-60 kmh) and the very fast greens. But it was a lot of fun because of the nice staff, nice foreign flight partners; varied layout and beautiful views.

Drive already the 8x to Soma Bay. Are very impressed by this extraordinary golf course. The variety, the game along the sea (4 lanes, or the game in the desert, on very good fairways, is really an experience. There are days when the wind( almost a storm along the sea) can play on Scottish conditions lift, but always interesting.
I'm looking forward to the 9th time.
